GENERAL OPERATING RULES
For Fliers and Spectators

QUALIFICATION FOR FLIERS

1. All fliers must be currently enrolled members of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and must prominently display their AMA membership card, original or copy, or their current Southern Alameda County Radio Controllers (SACRC) membership badge on their persons while at the field.

2. Guests qualified to fly, AMA members, may use the SACRC field for a maximum of three (3) days, only when accompanied by a host member. Thereafter, fliers who intend to continue to use the field must apply for SACRC membership.

3. Inexperienced fliers shall not fly solo. They must call upon an experienced flier to provide instruction.

4. Members with a known medical condition that may cause them to become incapacitated, as in fainting or other temporary loss of control, should have a friend/confidant available during flying to provide assistance in order to prevent injury to themselves or other individuals.

5. The club no longer supports the flying of Gas or Turbine powered aircraft at our flying field by all new members or all guests. 


HOURS OF FLYING

1. There shall be no flying before 7:00 AM or after dusk for electric aircraft.

2.There shall be no flying before 9:00 AM or after dusk for glow aircraft.


FLYING

1. There shall be no more than four (4) persons flying at one time.

2. Engines shall be started only in the designated starting area.

3. All fliers must occupy the designated "flight box”' when flying.

4. All launches and take-offs will originate from the flying strip.

5. The initial turn after take-off will be made in a direction away from the pit, spectator, and parking areas. No maneuvers, flight of any sort, or landing approaches will be made over a pit, spectator, or parking area.

6. There shall be no flying over areas designated as "inappropriate" by the club. All maneuvers, aerobatics and low flying are to be performed away from the runway. ADDENDUM: Members are cautioned not to fly near the caretaker's house. If you are observed doing this you will be warned about it. If it continues, you will be dismissed from the club. MAKE YOUR BASE TURN AT THE TELEPHONE POLE AND BE SAFE.

7. Taxiing in or out of the startup area is not permitted. Aircraft will be physically controlled until placed on the runway or return to the pit area.

8. Any model or equipment which is obviously unsafe will not be flown or operated.

9. Every model must be identified by the owner's name and address and AMA number on or in the airplane.


EQUIPMENT

1. All aircraft must meet a sound limit as per AMA guidelines.

2. All transmitters must be equipped with an appropriate numbered frequency flag. All transmitters will display owner identification.

3. All transmitters must be placed in the “impound area" when not in use. No transmitter will be removed from the impound area for any reason unless the appropriate “frequency- clothespin" is attached to the transmitter. Transmitters will be used in order.

4. Field repairs involving a transmitter will be kept to a minimum so that other fliers will not be inconvenienced. There is a time limit of twenty (20) minutes with the pin when others are waiting to fly.

5. Field repairs are not to be made on the runway. Repairs are to be made in the pit area.

6. Fliers will avoid full sized aircraft using any means possible.

7. AMA safety rules will be followed at all times.


GENERAL RULES

1. Keep the gate locked at all times. Lock the gate when you go in, and lock it when you go out.

2. Spectators and children will remain outside the pit, starting area, and flight box areas unless personally supervised by a member or receiving instruction. Members are responsible for the safety of their children and guests and for the protection of other members and their property.

3. Trash is everyone's responsibility. Individuals may not dispose of their litter at the field.

4. Members in close proximity of the runway (i.e. flight line) are limited to fliers and a maximum of one helper per flier. Any other member or non-member must have the permission of all other fliers on the flight line for photography or other activity within fifty (50) feet of the pit side of the runway (starting area excluded).


ENFORCEMENT OF FIELD RULES

1. Violators of any of these rules or other safe operating practices may be cited by any two members who witness the violation. Excepting the addendum to FLYING rule #6, the following consequences apply:

A. First violation: Written warning sued by two witnesses:
B. Second violation within six months of the first: $50.00 fine payable to the club treasury before flying can be resumed.
C. Third violation within six months of the first: Dismissal from the club.

2. Citations may be appealed to the Board of Directors within thirty (30) days after issuance.
       Two of the witnesses must appear.
